In 2007, the American Library Association collected
information about state laws, policies, standards or
guidelines governing school library media programs (school
libraries) through a nationwide survey. They contacted the
state education agency of each state to ask four questions
about School Library Media matters. The information has
been added to an online database, sorted by state, and is
available at the following link:

"Standards for the 21st-Century Learner" offer vision for
teaching and learning to both guide and beckon our
profession as education leaders. They will both shape the
library program and serve as a tool for library media
specialists to use to shape the learning of students in the
school.
