The Alabama Instructional Media Association has established a scholarship to be called the AIMA School Library Media Internship Scholarship. This $500.00 scholarship will be awarded each summer to a member of AIMA for financial assistance during their internship.
This scholarship will be awarded on the basis of the recipient's contribution/potential contribution to the library profession. It is available to students who are residents of Alabama, and who are or will be studying at any institution accredited by the American Library Association [ALA] or by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education [NCATE].
Recipients of this scholarship will be selected by the Scholarship Committee and approved by the AIMA Board In the spring of each year on the basis of academic achievement, potential service/contribution, and financial need.
Applicants for this scholarship must submit an application package to the Scholarship Committee by December 31 to be considered for this scholarship.
The application package will contain:
application form, completed, signed, and dated
unofficial copy of any graduate work taken
letter from applicant outlining personal background, interests, community activities and current plans for career in library field
letter from internship supervisor outlining internship placement of applicant
All materials submitted shall remain confidential.
